Today, our campuses are once again filled with smiling faces, excited students, dedicated staff, and all the energy that comes with a brand-new school year. Our summer school students did a lesson on Self-Efficacy today. They took a moment to celebrate their strengths and look at the way they are making a difference in the world around them. They made Confidence Kites to show how building their confidence helps them to soar! Great job Cougars! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cougar Families please note, Riverside Unified Health Systems will have a mobile clinic at Cottonwood on July 31st, from noon until 4:00 p.m. for the Back to School Community Fair in the library. At the clinic, students can get immunizations and have sports physicals completed. Things were hopping in the 5 Star Reward Store today! Our summer school students were cashing in on their good behavior and attendance by spending their Cougar Cash. Special thanks to our middle schoolers for helping set-up and help in the shop today. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's Summer School Scholars did a lesson on managing their emotions. They practiced belly reathing techniques and made fuzzy fidgets and calming jars to use as they work to reset big emotions. Amazing job Cougars! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

ELOP Took the summer school students to a theater in Idyllwild to see a movie on Friday. The students enjoyed comfortable seating, popcorn and a drink and refreshing air conditioning! Thank you to our ELOP Staff for making this fun trip happen! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's 8th Grade Promotion and Awards Assembly celebrated the Student of the Month, Academic Standouts in all subjects, students demonstrating the Character Traits of Honesty and Attentiveness, and students exhibiting the PBIS Skills of Making an Apology and Listening. Scholars were also recognized for their progress toward biliteracy, athletic achievements, cross age tutoring dedication, and school wide service as PLUS Leaders. in addition, students were awarded High School Readiness medals to honor the work they put in to help prepare themselves for high school. Congratulations Cottonwood Class of 2026, you have left a special legacy for future Cougars to aspire to achieve. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Kindergarten Promotion was a very special day. Our kindergarten scholars were awarded for being the Student of the Month, demonstrating the Character Traits of Honesty and Attentiveness, and exhibiting the PBIS Skills of Making an Apology and Listening. Cottonwood's Summer School Cougars have been earning Cougar Cash for arriving at school on time, demonstrating excellent behavior and citizenship, and completing their work. Today our scholars got to come in to the 5 Star Store and shop with their Cougar Cash. Special thanks to some of our middle school students for assisting our elementary students total up their purchases. Keep up the good work. Cottonwood's 6th and 7th Graders celebrated Students of the Month, the Character Traits of Honesty and Attentiveness, the PBIS Skills of Making an Apology and Listening, Musical skills, and Physical Education Sportsmanship and Athleticism. High School Readiness Medals were awarded to Scholars who met the rigorous academic criteria. PLUS Leadership students and Peer Tutors were celebrated and sports standouts were recognized. Cottonwood's 2nd-5th Graders celebrated Students of the Month, the Character Traits of Honesty and Attentiveness, the PBIS Skills of Making an Apology and Listening, Musical skills, and Physical Education Sportsmanship and Athleticism. HUSD Honor Roll Medals were awarded to 4th and 5th Graders who met the rigorous academic criteria. 5th Graders who demonstrated competency in being able to read, write, speak and listen to Spanish were celebrated as they make progress toward earning Biliteracy and one student was redesignated from his English Learner status. Cottonwood's 3rd Graders opened the doors on their Living Museum. Each scholar researched a historical person and created a backdrop of information and posed waiting for museum guests to press their buttons to come to life and share key facts about their lives. It was a great day and all of the museum patrons learned a lot. Great job! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's 2nd Graders hosted their 2nd Annual Class Market. Students worked together to determine the product or products they wanted to sell. Next, they had to determine a price point to maximize their profits and create appealing marketing to draw customers in. Everyone did an awesome job and staff and other students enjoyed shopping until their Cougar Cash ran out. Until next year! #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars
