Hemet, November 14, 2023: The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Dr. Sumanta Chaudhuri Saini, has selected Ms. Sonia Rangel, 1st Grade Teacher at Cottonwood School, as the November 2023 recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.
Sonia Rangel is a teacher of teachers, who has enriched the Cottonwood Community for the past two decades as a primary school teacher, a literacy coach, a grade level lead, and the English Learner Lead. As the English Learner Lead, Mrs. Rangel has shined and assured that all of our English Learners have advanced in English and have had the best chance to redesignate. Ms. Rangel is a lifelong learner and was certified as a Teacher Leader by Riverside County Office of Education and she was an early adopter of the LETRS program making her invaluable to the district. Mrs. Rangel is taking all of her experience to spearhead the literacy program at the Dual Language Academy next semester. We are proud to recognize and thank her for her hard work and dedication to Cottonwood School.
For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Dr. Sumanta Chaudhuri Saini presented Ms. Sonia Rangel with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
