Cottonwood School Wins Second Place in National Competition

Cottonwood School was announced the second place winner of Healthy Schools, Healthy People, It’s a SNAP. This is a national campaign to raise awareness of the importance of washing one’s hands.

Students from Associated Student Body (ASB) and Health Technician, Jillian Daudert created the cartoon “Mr. Bubbles”. The logo was placed on tissue boxes and near restroom sinks to serve as a reminder to everyone to wash their hands. Students Janeth Culviner and Erica Gutierrez, along with Ms. Daudert, presented to different classrooms to explain the purpose of Mr. Bubbles. During the presentations Erica explained the importance of washing hands thoroughly and Janeth explained the proper technique.

Erica and Janeth were delighted that the “Mr. Bubbles” campaign won second place in a national competition. Erica said, “we are a small school so it was nice to be recognized on a large scale.”

Ms. Daudert said she is happy with the hard work and dedication the students put into the “Mr. Bubbles” campaign around the school. Her goal is to further increase awareness of the transfer of germs and how to prevent it from happening. She is currently working on ideas for Cottonwood School students and staff to participate in National Hand Washing Day on October 15th.

Congratulations to Cottonwood School for winning second place in the Healthy Schools, Healthy People, It’s a SNAP national campaign!
