Families, mark your calendars now so that you don't miss our Annual Winter Concert that will take place on Friday, December 12th, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. All elementary classes will perform a holiday song as well as our band and choir students. There will be food to purchase, a bake sale and our Holiday Shop will be open in the Library for families to shop after their children perform. Cottonwood was fortunate to have the Arts Integration Team on site this past week working with our scholars. The students participated in a variety of art forms exploring multiple visual and performing arts projects. It was a phenomenal couple of days! Cottonwood's PTO will be selling Holiday Grams for $1.00 each. Each Holiday Gram will have a Holiday Themed Rubber Duck and some festive candy. Holiday Grams will be on sale on December 1st through December 17th, or until sold out. Holiday Grams will be distributed on Thursday, December 18th. Holiday Grams are a wonderful way to share some holiday cheer with classmates, staff, and special friends. The Holiday Grams will be sold in the front office starting on Monday, December 1st. School is not in session in observance of our Thanksgiving Break, however, ELOP is hosting November Enrichment Days Monday through Wednesday for those students who have pre-enrolled. Cottonwood's PTO will be hosting a Holiday Shop the week of December 8th - December 12th to give our students an opportunity to purchase gifts for their friends and loved ones. Fliers will be sent home with each student the week we return. Here is what you should expect to find. Each envelope includes a shopping planning tool to let our shopping team help guide your shoppers. The shop will be open daily from 8:00-8:30 a.m. and between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and after the Winter Concert, Friday night, December 12th. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars



Cottonwood was delighted to host the Hemet Unified School District Governing Board for their most recent meeting on Tuesday, November 18th. Shoutout to 1st Graders, Bailee Russell who did a phenomenal job opening the meeting by leading the pledge of allegiance. Myrna Lopez and Megan Estrada shared some of the updates that Cottonwood has made implementing their Community School Grant and Amanda Niaves was awarded a Good Apple. The 2nd Annual Turkey Trot has been so much fun. We are about to start our final group of runners. Here are a few pictures from this morning. Cougar families, we have changed the middle school run time for the Turkey Trot in an attempt to get ahead of the rain clouds. All middle school students will be running today during Period 5, from 1:16-2:12 and then they will go to their electives period 6. Any parents who would like to come and run with their athletes or cheer them on are welcome to meet them up by the track. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cottonwood's Middle School Scholars who maintained an academic GPA over 2.5, had no more than 2 absences, and were not suspended during Triad 2 celebrated with a GLOW PARTY this afternoon. The students adorned themselves with a variety of glow wear, ate snacks, played video games, danced, jumped rope and enjoyed the company of their friends. Shoutout to the PLUS Leadership Students for setting it up and organizing the event. What a wonderful way to wrap up the week! Cottonwood's Kindergarten Scholars had a lesson on Problem Solving. Inspired by the text, Turkey Trouble, a story about a turkey trying to avoid becoming his owners' turkey dinner, he set out on disguising himself to avoid capture. Our scholars created possible disguises for turkey to stay safe. They did an amazing job. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars
